Where to buy AdBlue in the UK?

Need to buy AdBlue® for your diesel vehicle? If the AdBlue® warning light appears on your dashboard, it’s because you need to fill up with this fluid as soon as you get the chance. The AdBlue® warning light generally comes on 2,400 km (1,491 miles) before you run out of this fluid. It’s best not to wait until the last moment to fill up, otherwise you won’t be able to start your engine. But where can you find AdBlue®? Find out about the various solutions available to you.

Buying AdBlue® online

If you’re not in a hurry, the easiest way is to go to a specialized website (online car garage, for example) or general marketplaces (Amazon, eBay…) and order a 5- or 10-litre can of AdBlue®. Preferably choose a can with an integrated spout, for added convenience.

Buying AdBlue® at a service station

Buying AdBlue® at a service station can be done in 2 different ways:

  • either directly from the pump, when the station is equipped with an AdBlue® pump for light vehicles (HGV pumps are not suitable for cars, unless you want to take the risk of using a magnetic adapter, which is not recommended by AdBlue® distributors !).
  • or at the shop attached to the station concerned, by buying a can of AdBlue® (5 or 10 litres).

Where can I find AdBlue® at the pump? At the moment, only a few hundred service stations offer AdBlue® at the pump (out of the 8,350 stations in the UK), with major disparities between regions. While it is relatively easy to find AdBlue® pumps in the London area, most other regions are poorly served. Networks that allow you to buy AdBlue® at the pump at certain stations include BP, Shell, Esso and Texaco.

As for buying cans of AdBlue® at service stations, a large number of BP shops offer them. It’s a good idea to check that they have them in stock before you go.

Supermarkets selling AdBlue®

Some supermarkets or hypermarkets offer AdBlue® in their car sections. You can find it in some Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda and Morrisons shops.

AdBlue® is also available from certain specialist supermarkets. In some B&Q and Toolstation shops, for example, you can buy AdBlue® in cans.

Find AdBlue® in a car centre or garage

Do you have a car centre or garage near your home? More and more of them are offering AdBlue® refills as one of their services.

Among the car centres offering the AdBlue® upgrade is Halfords. This brand is among the cheapest garages and allows you to book an appointment online.

What’s more, if you need to have your vehicle serviced, remember to ask your garage if topping up the AdBlue® level is included in the package. You’d be surprised to discover that this isn’t always the case!

Buying AdBlue® through your car dealer

Buying AdBlue® through your car dealership is possible! In fact, some dealerships offer an AdBlue® refilling package for diesel vehicles of their make. If you’re interested in this service, contact your usual dealership directly.
